Pride Month Fund

About

In the summer of 1969, police raided a gay bar in New York City; the riots that ensued were a major turning point for the fight for gay rights in the United States. Since June 1970, the LGBTQ+ community, along with activists, advocates, and allies have continued to gather together in June to march with Pride. While there are still many obstacles the LGBTQ+ community faces, significant progress has been made over the past few decades. This Pride Month Fund supports organizations that promote the safety and advance the wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ community through advocacy, direct services, health accessibility, education, legal representation, and public policy changes. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives working to ensure acceptance, equity, and justice for all. The composition of nonprofits in this fund is subject to change. Please contact BrightFunds@brattle.net if you are interested in adding a nonprofit to this fund.

Your Donation Supports

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project's mission is to end suicide among gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. We are the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people. The organization works to save young lives by providing support through free and confidential suicide prevention and crisis intervention programs on platforms where young people spend their time: our 24/7 phone lifeline, chat, text and soon-to-come integrations with social media platforms. We also run TrevorSpace, the world’s largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth, and operate innovative education, research, and advocacy programs.

National Center for Transgender Equality

The National Center for Transgender Equality advocates to change policies and society to increase understanding and acceptance of transgender people. In the nation’s capital and throughout the country, NCTE works to replace disrespect, discrimination, and violence with empathy, opportunity, and justice.

Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc.

Founded in 1973, Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving the full recognition of the civil rights of LGBTQ people, and all persons living with HIV through impact litigation, public education, and policy work. We successfully use strategic and collaborative advocacy to press for passage of laws that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity or HIV status and to defeat efforts to repeal or weaken such civil rights protections.
